Pranzo Trattoria & Enoteca is one of the few authentic Italian restaurants in the North East of England, proudly serving traditional Italian and regional cuisine to guests in Whitley Bay and the surrounding areas. Each month, we celebrate a different region of Italy, featuring its traditional dishes, local ingredients and carefully selected regional wines.

Our wine list is always evolving and is 100% Italian, with every wine available by the glass thanks to our Le Verre de Vin wine system. We feature around 30 grape varieties from across Italy, plus five special regional wines during our monthly regional menu. Wines change regularly—same grapes and regions, but different vineyards—so every visit offers a new experience.

Poppone Rosso Venezie (Antonutti)

Ruby red in colour. The nose exhibits notes of ripe red berries. Slightly sweet on the palate, with a pleasant, fresh-tasting, long and rich finish. Some Merlot wines are made from partially dried grapes, a technique similar to Italy’s appassimento method, which concentrates sugar and flavour, giving a richer body and higher alcohol.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano - Salcheto

One of Tuscany’s historic wines, made mainly from Sangiovese. Elegant and structured with notes of cherry, spice and earthy complexity. A classic Italian red with great character.

Traminer, I Magredi

An aromatic white wine with floral and tropical fruit notes. Fresh, fragrant and beautifully balanced, produced in the Friuli region known for some of Italy’s finest white wines

After many years in Tuscany, picking grapes with my sister for the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, I moved to England and continued my wine education, including completing the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. After three years working for a Midlands wine company supplying restaurants and hotels, I opened my own Italian Enoteca
